November 14th, 2016, the moon was supposed to be the closest to the earth that it ever had been, and man was it gorgeous! It was nice and clear on Sunday night, but when I went to take pictures of it, my camera battery was dead & I had lost my charger. I knew I wouldn’t have been able to get to Best Buy to get a new one before they closed, so I thought I had lost the opportunity to try to get any good pictures! I tried with my phone, which is a Galaxy Note 5, but phone pictures NEVER turn out as good when it comes to the moon, at least for me, because the zoom isn’t great! And they’re grainy for me.
When I woke up Monday, a friend of mine on facebook, who is also a photographer said she had heard that the moon was going to be even bigger and brighter Monday night, so I knew the first thing I needed to do when Rosalie woke up and got breakfast was get my butt to Best Buy to get the correct charger. (I had bought one Friday while we were there, however it was for the wrong battery model.) So I had to take it back and exchange it and get the correct charger for my battery model and I did. So as soon as I got home, I got my battery charging!
Michael and I waited until about 6:30 and we ran to town to get some stuff from the store, and I took my camera with me. I really hoped it would clear off some, but it stayed cloudy the whole time we were out. I tried to get some good pictures, but the clouds just wouldn’t cooperate! Here’s one, that looks kind of ominous, I think, but still turned out okay.
Keep in mind, I’m not a professional photographer, and as I was also reminded on facebook just now, it’s not the equipment I use that makes good pictures, it’s skill and practice, which is definitely something I need more of! I have the Canon EOS Rebel T5, that I got at Walmart’s Black Friday event last year, but in all honesty, I haven’t really taken the time to learn things about it! Which I know is something that I NEED to do!
This one is one I took this morning when I woke up & was waiting on my oven to preheat to get the boys their Cinnamon Rolls for breakfast! I didn’t realize that the moon was still up and so large, so I ran to get my camera!
I think out of all of the ones that I took, the last one is my favorite!
